Horse saddlery, either meant for saddles ar animal draught, is an example of the most appreciated craftwork of Andalusia, and specially of the town of ecija, which soon becamen for the quality of its workshops.

Already in 1865, in the Ecijano Yearbook dedicated to the people of Ecija, the saddlery section reports the following workshop addresses and owners:

Conde, 43 - Rafael Casado.
Conde, 20 - Juan Armenta.
Conde, 38 - Manuel Armenta.
Merinos, 45 - Antonio Armenta.
Plazuela Mesones - Viuda de Remesal.

Three of the Armenta brothers applied themselves to saddle and tack fitting. The present family branch comes from Don Manuel Armenta or, more precisely, from Don Manuel González Armenta, which was his real name. Being Armenta his second surname in order, the name was actually doomed to disappear in the following generation.

However, the fact that the whole family was known as the Armentas, made it possible to retain it until nowadays. Today, apart from an illustrious name in the saddlery sector, Armenta has become a highly considered registered trademark.

From Manuel Armenta until now, quality work and know-how have been essential values in oru daily work at the workshops. Armenta undertands leather work as the art that combines the saddler's creativity, design, care and delicacy, performed by the master saddlers following the patterns established by their predecessors. The transmission fo handicraft techniques throughout the generations has enabled Armenta to consolidate as one of the most renown workshops in the sector.
